State OKs bid for stimulus project on Cowley 3

The state has approved a bid of $899,937 for new roadway surfacing on a portion of Cowley 3, a well-traveled roadway that many motorists use as a route to Wichita.

Cowley County officials learned this spring that federal stimulus money would fund the work. The surfacing project runs along Cowley 3 from Udall south to 132nd Rd, a distance of about 6.5 miles.

APAC Kansas Inc., Shears Division, of Hutchinson, has been hired to do the work. No word yet on when the project will begin.
