Winfield’s Bethany Gerber was named Miss Kansas USA 2010 over the weekend in Lawrence. She will represent Kansas in the Miss USA pageant this Spring.
Gerber ? competing as Miss Cowley County USA ? was chosen as the winner from a group of 23 contestants. The Miss USA pageant will be held April 18, 2010 in Las Vegas and is broadcast on NBC.
The national pageant is backed, in part, by billionaire Donald Trump. Fifty one contestants, representing all 50 states and the District of Columbia, will compete in the pageant.
Contestants are judged in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview. Gerber graduated from Winfield High School and attends the University of Oklahoma.
The woman named Miss USA advances to the Miss Universe competition.
