Upset jobless man strikes man, makes threat

A Severy man ? who said he was upset and angry about not being able to find a job – was arrested Saturday after striking and threatening to kill a man at an Ark City residence, according to police.

William Zachary Cheever, 19, is said to have gotten in an argument with a man in the 400 block of N. Eighth around 1:30 a.m. The suspect was reportedly cussing and upset about being unemployed.

During the course of the argument, Cheever is said to have broken a hurricane lamp and struck the victim in the face. When it became obvious the police would be called, Cheever is said to have threatened to kill the victim before going back to jail.

Cheever was eventually found later in the day in the 700 block of N. Fifth. He was arrested and taken to the county jail on charges of criminal battery, disorderly condut and minor in consumption of alcohol. The latter charge came because the man was drunk when police found him.
