Police make new request in search for May

Winfield Police are asking Cowley County landowners to assist in the search for Richard D. May, who was last seen Dec.10.

Property owners – or those own leases on rural properties – are asked to take some time to check their properties. Tree lines, waterways and any areas where a vehicle could pull off the roadway are priorities.

May drove a 2002 Ford Windstar van that was champagne in color. Due to the large amount of privately owned and rural property, police investigators are requesting assistance from the public, according to a written statement.

May is known as the Harmonica Man locally because he often played a harmonica in public. The length of time since his disappearance, and the fact his vehicle has not been found, has police concerned about May’s wellbeing.

If you locate Mr. May, his vehicle or find anything that seems suspicious, call the Winfield Police Dept. at 221-5555.
