Winfield Public Schools will be starting several weeks later than in the past few years as part of an effort to contain energy costs by shifting school days away from the hottest days of August. For most Winfield students, the first day of school will be August 31.
Winfield High School freshman will start with a half-day on August 27. All high school students will have classes on August 28.
Pre-school classes will not start until September 8 to allow time for teachers to do screenings.
Enrollment packets will be mailed this Thursday.? Those forms can be mailed or delivered back to the district office at 1407 Wheat Road.
Enrollment for any new students of any age ? for any families who do not want to enroll by mail ? will be August 12 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the high school.
All fees are due August 13.
