Some Winfield water customers between Oxford and Winfield were without water for a time Friday as the result of a water main break.
An aging line that connects the two towns began to leak and this required the line to be shut off while repairs were completed. Less than 100 customers were inconvenienced, city manager Warren Porter said.
Oxford, he said, supplies its own water through a well system. Winfield serves a number of rural customers between the two cities and a few inside the city limits. A few Winfield customers on the far west side of town were also affected.
