Four hurt in crash at 77 and K-15 on Thursday

Four people suffered minor injuries and a fifth was hospitalized in Wichita following an accident on U.S. 77 north of Winfield Thursday evening.

Jessica J. Epting, 27, Iola, was taken to Via Christi-St. Francis Hospital in serious condition, though her injuries were not considered life threatening. An updated condition was not immediately available Friday morning.

Epting was the passenger in a 2000 Pontiac passenger car driven by Jennifer R. Epting-Williams, 31, of Iola. Epting-Williams and two children in the vehicle were taken to a hospital in Winfield to be evaluated.

The Epting vehicle was southbound on 77 when it collided with a 1995 Chevy truck attempting to make a left turn from K-15 Highway, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Randy A. Long, 45, Derby, was driving the truck and failed to yield before turning, according to a written log of the accident. He was uninjured.

All involved in the accident, with the exception of Jessica Epting, were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.
