Dave Seaton has announced his retirement as publisher of the Winfield Courier and Arkansas City Traveler effective July 1, according to the newspaper’s online edition.
Seaton, 69, will be replaced in Winfield by 75-year-old Lloyd Craig, a long-time Courier employee. David Allen Seaton, 38, will become publisher of the Traveler and be the CEO for Winfield Publishing Co.
In addition to the Traveler and Courier, Winfield Publishing also produces the weekly paper in Newkirk Okla.
The elder Seaton did not return a phone call seeking comment Tuesday afternoon. In a story on the paper’s Web site, he indicates he will stay involved in the paper as a consultant and contributing writer.
Employees were informed of the impending changes at a meeting last week.
