Man arrested after offering up brother’s name

A broken windshield led to trouble for two men pulled over in Arkansas City on Monday.

Shawn Sedam was pulled over in the 1200 block of N. First because of the windshield problem and gave police his brother’s name and date of birth. Dispatchers called the owner of the car Sedam was driving and found out the owner sold the car a month ago.

But the woman was never paid for the car and didn’t know Sedam or his passenger, Sam King.

Police placed King under arrest on a municipal court warrant and detained Sedam. Officers found identification in Sedam’s wallet and determined his real name. He faces charges of driving while suspended, his third offense on that charge, and obstructing the legal process.

Bond for Sedam was set at $3,000. King bonded out for $315. The car was impounded and later picked up by its owner.
