Small fire halts classes at ACHS on Tuesday

A emptied classrooms at Arkansas City High School Tuesday morning but classes did resume a short time later, school officials told a KSOK Radio reporter.

The incident occurred around 10 a.m. when firefighters responded to reports of smoke coming from a clothes dryer on the lower level. The fire was very minor but there was a lot of smoke.

Students were sent a gym and shop area but were quickly allowed to go back to class.

The fire was easily contained to the space where it started.

School officials said the school was allowed to air out before students were allowed back inside. No one was hurt.
