An Ark City man was arrested Monday after an investigation led police to believe he raped a 13-year-old girl, chief Sean Wallace said.
Kevin Ray Jennings, 49, was booked into the Cowley County jail on a $25,000 bond and faces one count of rape of a juvenile. He was still in jail Tuesday morning, according to a spokesperson.
Authorities did not say when they believed the incident occurred but said the arrest was made as part of an ongoing investigation by the department’s Crimes Against Children Task Force.
The suspect, victim and possible witnesses were interviewed and Jennings’s home was searched. Detectives then determined enough probable cause existed to make an arrest, Wallace said.
