A search of a rural Cowley County home Tuesday turned up what authorities believe was a marijuana-growing operation east of Ark City.
Around 6:30 p.m., members of the county’s drug task force and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation executed a search warrant at a home at 27929 155th Rd. Investigators recovered seven to 10 pounds of a substance believed to be marijuana, according to Ark City police chief Sean Wallace.
A search was also executed on 141st Rd., at a home near the first location. These searches yielded items thought to be part of a pot-growing operation.
Suspects in the case were not home at the time and no arrests have been made. Evidence will be sent to a KBI lab for testing and forwarded to the county attorney for prosecution.
The sheriff’s dept., along with Ark City and Winfield police assisted in the search.
