Randy Leach out as fire chief in Arkansas City

Randy Leach is no longer the fire chief in Arkansas City, city officials have confirmed.

City commissioner Mell Kuhn said Leach has resigned and described Leach’s departure as "an unfortunate situation."

Sources told NewsCow that Leach had left his post and a person answering the phone at the fire department said Leach no longer was employed by the fire department. All calls were referred to city hall.

Attempts to contact Leach and city manager Steve Archer were not successful.

Kuhn said it was his understanding that Leach had resigned. The matter is a personnel issue, Kuhn said, so he would not comment further.

So far few details of the chief’s departure have been made public.

The department expects to put an interim fire chief in police while Leach’s replacement is found.
