Assistant gone as result of college dorm party

A Cowley College staffer has lost his job following a party at a school dormitory that led to several students being cited by police for underage drinking.

The man, who has not been identified by name, was an assistant coach for the men’s basketball team and also a manager at the dormitory, according to a school spokesperson. He was relieved of his duties and no longer is associated with the college.

The disciplinary action is in response to a party broken up by police Jan. 31. Officers were called to investigate a noise disturbance and discovered a party in the common area at Kirkdale. Several students, including some student athletes, were cited for drinking underage.
