Laura Smith, 84, of Arkansas City, died April 22, 2010, at the South Central Regional Medical Center in Arkansas City.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 26, at the Riverview Cemetery in Arkansas City. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 25, from 1 ? 7 p.m. at the Hawks-Shelley Funeral Home & Crematory of Arkansas City. Laura (Brenning) Smith was born the daughter of Conrad and Mary (Gettman) Brenning in Cheyenne, Wyo., on January 1, 1926. Laura graduated from the Longmont Colorado High School in 1944. Laura was united in marriage to George Smith on February 2, 1946. She was a homemaker all of her life, enjoying puzzles, reading, sewing and gardening. Her dog, Prissy, was very special to her.
Surviving to honor her memory are her husband, Ray, Arkansas City, daughters; Sherry Robertson, Arkansas City, and Sandra Hamman of California; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George, her daughter, Connie Guthridge, and eight brothers and sisters.
