Ark City’s water department will continue its hydrant flushing program beginning Monday.
The department is ready to begin flushing in Section 4 of the city which includes all hydrants in the First and Fifth Ave. area north and west to Kansas. All work will be done from 8 a.m to 3 p.m on weekdays.
The flushing is expected to last for several days.
Water customers in this area may experience temporary discoloration or low water pressure during this fire hydrant flushing program.?
Most discoloration can be corrected by flushing a faucet for a few minutes, but if flushing does not correct the problem or if you continue to notice a pressure loss, please contact the Water Department at 441-4480 or 441-4492.?
We advise that you do not wash laundry if your water is discolored as this can stain the items- if laundry does become stained please leave the items wet, call the water department, and a detergent designed to remove the stains can be delivered to your address.
