A fire in a Winfield home at 12th and Broadway Tuesday was intentionally set, fire marshal Alan Stoll said Wednesday. A decision about charges in the case will be left to the Cowley County Attorney’s Office.
County Attorney Chris Smith offered no immediate comment in regard to the investigation.
Stoll said a total of six people were living in the home. No one was injured as a result of the fire. Stoll would not comment as to whether investigators had developed a suspect in the case.
The fire was confined to a small area in the basement of the home, according to fire officials. It was clear fairly early on that the fire was intentionally set, Stoll said.
