Two men fishing along the Arkansas River were arrested early Saturday morning when Cowley County Sheriff’s deputies stopped to check on the men.
Around 1 a.m., the pair were fishing in the area of the river and 312th Rd. A routine check led to deputies discovering that both men had warrants out for their arrest.
James F. Leonard, 54, Newkirk, was arrested on a felony warrant out of Missouri. Brian G. Winters, 21, Ark City, was arrested on a probation violation and a municipal court warrant for failure to appear.
