Fire destroys trailer home on Sunday evening

Fire destroyed a vacant trailer home in the Pleasant Valley area late Sunday, fire officials said. No one was injured and the owners of the structure had been using it only for storage space.

Around 11:25 p.m., Winfield firefighters arrived at 21196 Hoover Ave. to find a trailer engulfed in flames. The trailer was owned by Gloria Conner.

Firefighters had the blaze under control within about 45 minutes, according to a report of the incident.

The trailer and contents were valued at around $4,000. The property was not insured but had power running to it. It is considered a total loss.

Investigators are looking into whether the fire was intentionally set since circumstances of the case are similar to those of a fire that destroyed three trailer homes in rural Cowley County earlier this month.

Fire officials believe a fire that destroyed trailers belonging to Connie Andes on Nov. 3 may have been intentionally set.
