Officials: County Received Nearly 30 More Inches Of Annual Rainfall Than Normal In 2019

Nearly 30 more inches of rain fell in parts of Cowley County in 2019 compared to an average year, according to Cowley County Emergency Management’s 2019 Annual Report released Monday.

On average, the county receives nearly 40 inches of annual rainfall, but 2019 easily surpassed the norm. Totals of 53 inches was recorded southeast of Ark City, but in the northeast section of Cowley County nearly 70 inches of rain was recorded for the year.

In May, severe flooding hit the region several different times.
