Two people who were killed in a car vs. combine accident on Nov. 7 north of Winfield have been identified by authorities.

According to a news release Thursday morning by the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office, the deceased were Lucas Walker, 28, of Wichita, and Sarah Deere, 33, also of Wichita.

The sheriff’s office said the Sedgwick County Forensic Science Center on Wednesday positively identified both individuals through dental records.

Walker and Deere died on Nov. 7 when the 2005 Chevrolet Impala they were traveling in, driven by Walker, struck a combine just south of the intersection of 75th Road and 102nd Road, west of U.S. 77.

The car was traveling south on the old highway when it struck the combine. The vehicle went underneath the combine and was engulfed by fire.

The driver of the combine was uninjured.
