Lim tapped as SC’s new info tech officer

Ben Lim is the new vice president for information technology at Southwestern College.

Lim is replacing Phil Jarvis who will depart Friday after 12 years of service to the college. Jarvis is retiring and plans to travel.

“Ben has great breadth of technical expertise with information technology, and he brings a terrific background in quality management from Cessna,” says SC President Dick Merriman. “We expect his leadership to have an impact far beyond the realm of computers and networks.”

Born in Malaysia, Lim has lived in Kansas for more than 20 years. He earned his bachelor of business administration and his master of business administration degree from Wichita State University. For the past 10 years, he has been employed at Cessna in Wichita, most recently as business process integration leader.

At SC he will be responsible for technology including support for the college’s unique laptop learning (each incoming main campus student receives a laptop computer) and its online degree program.

Lim and his wife, Amy, are the parents of two daughters, Annabelle and Elizabeth.

Southwestern College is a private institution granting undergraduate and graduate degrees and is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. More than 1,600 students attend classes at the main Winfield campus; at seven professional studies sites in three states; or online at www.sckans.edu.
