$1M bond set in Chautauqua rape/kidnapping

A gag order has been issued in the alleged kidnapping and rape of a 14-year-old Chautauqua County girl.

The order was issued in District Court in Sedan Wednesday when two defendants in the case, Aaron Terning and Stephen Greger, appeared.

Because of the gag order, no information is available on when or where the alleged kidnapping occurred.

Chautauqua County Attorney Kimberly King filed charges against the two Chautauqua County men July 10. Two days later, King requested help from the Kansas Attorney General’s Office.

Ashley Anstaett, spokeswoman for the AG’s office, said the office will now be handling the case and that the charges were amended July 18.

Gregor is charged with one count of aggravated kidnapping, two counts rape and two counts of aggravated criminal sodomy. All three charges are classified as severity level one person felonies.

Terning is charged with one count aggravated kidnapping and one count rape.

The men are being held on $1 million bond. Preliminary hearings are set for Aug. 27 and 28.

The charges are merely allegations and Terning and Gregor will be presumed innocent until proven guilty, Anstaett said
