SBA outreach center replaces FEMA center

A FEMA disaster center that closed Friday has been replaced by a disaster loan outreach center operated by the U.S. Small Business Administration, an SBA official said Wednesday.

The outreach center is located at the USD 465 build at 1407 Wheat Road in Winfield and is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“The establishment of another Disaster Loan Outreach Center demonstrates our commitment to ensure that every qualified family and business receives the help they need to recover from this disaster,” said Angee Morgan, state coordinating officer.

SBA customer service representatives will be available to answer questions and help applicants to complete their low-interest disaster loan applications.

SBA low-interest disaster loans can help homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes, and private non-profit organizations pay for their disaster losses, according to SBA officials. They also will meet with applicants one-on-one and assist them in filling out their loan applications. Anyone not able to visit a center should call 1-800-659-2955 for SBA assistance or visit the website at www.sba.gov/services/disasterassistance.

To answer questions regarding FEMA applications, the helpline is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). The TTY number for residents with special speech or hearing needs is TTY 1-800-462-7585. Register online at www.fema.gov.
