Heavy rains in the area the last couple days are expected to cause minor flooding along the Walnut River in Winfield and Ark City.
The Walnut in Winfield is now at 10.1 feet and expected to rise above flood stage ? 18 feet ? by early Thursday morning. The river should crest at 26.2 feet by Friday afternoon, according to emergency management officials.
The Walnut in Ark City is at 4.9 feet and expected to reach 18 feet ? flood stage ? by Thursday evening. Crest is expected Friday morning at 18.9 feet.
The Arkansas River is not expected to reach flood stage in Ark City.
