Escaped inmate arrested in Overland Park

An inmate that escaped from the Winfield Correctional Facility last week was apprehended in Overland Park Thursday, according to a statement from the correctional facility.

Eric Rabicoff, 24, was taken into custody around 6:45 p.m. He was arrested by Special Enforcement Officer R.J. Cook with the assistance of the U.S. Marshal Service.

Aggravated Escape from Custody charges have been filed in Cowley County.

Rabicoff left the grounds of the correctional facility some time after 9 p.m. Aug. 8 and had been on the lam ever since.

He was convicted of violating the Kansas Securities Act in Johnson County and was serving a 32-month sentence at the time of his escape.

He was scheduled to be released in March 2009.
