County to review contract for manager Alsup

Cowley County commissioners are scheduled to consider amending County Administrator Leroy Alsup’s employment contract when they meet in regular session at 9 a.m. Wednesday on the second floor of the former State Bank building.

Commissioners normally meet on Tuesdays but New Year’s Day falls on Tuesday this year and county offices will be closed, as will other government agencies.

The same agreement calls for the commission to provide Alsup a deferred?compensation program and pay an amount equal to 11.85 percent of the base salary, provide the same health and life insurance as provided other county employees and?pay $320 monthly vehicle allowance.

Alsup will be entitled to nine months severance pay if the board fails to renew his employment agreement.

Other agenda items include the appointment or reappointment of four people to the Cowley County Mental Health and Counseling Center – Froma Wolc, Jon Von Achen, Rebecca Cunningham, and Jim Hinegarder.

Cunningham will replace Nancy Miller and Hinegardner will replace Nancy Craddock. The commission agenda also calls for consideration purchasing a 2008 Impala LS for $17,953 for Cowley County Community Corrections and two 2009 Ranger XT Super Cab 4×4 pickups for $31,530 for the County Appraiser’s Office.
