Storms Tues., Wed. brought over inch of rain

Cowley County received just over an inch of rain during storms Tuesday and early Wednesday according to data collected locally. Arlan Anglemyer, an observer for the National Weather Service, reported a total of .57 inches for the 24-hour period that ended at 7 a.m. Tuesday.

The total by 7 a.m. Wednesday was .45 for a total of 1.02 inches during the last two days.

Thunderstorms are forecast today for the entire area ? especially tonight. Severe thunderstorms are possible over areas generally along and west of a line from Lincoln to Anthony where up to half-dollar sized hail and damaging winds are possible, according to the National Weather Service Office in Wichita.

Severe thunderstorms are likely in this area Wednesday morning through early Wednesday evening for all of south central and southeast Kansas where hail up to the size of golfballs, damaging winds and even a few tornadoes are possible.

Spotters may be needed both tonight and Wednesday.
