Goodwin named to transportation task force

Sen. Greta Goodwin, D-Winfield, is one of four state legislators that Gov. Kathleen Sebelius has added to the task force charged with crafting a new strategic transportation approach.

Goodwin is a member of the Senate Transportation Committee and the Senate Ways and Means Committee.

Sen. Les Donovan, Wichita, Rep. Margaret Long, Kansas City, and Rep. Don Schroeder, Inman, were also appointed to the task force.

"Our state has enjoyed 20 years of success in transportation because of legislators from both parties from across the state working together," Sebelius said. "I’ve asked the task force to create a vision that keeps our infrastructure in good shape and puts Kansas in a position for future economic growth."

With the state’s 10 year transportation program coming to an end, the task force is charged with developing a set of recommendations for a new strategic transportation approach.

The task force was scheduled to meet today for the first time.
