Brooks: High turnout apparent in early voting

County Clerk and Election Officer Karen Brooks predicts 14 to 15 percent of Cowley County’s registered voters will have voted in advance by the time polls open at 7 a.m. Tuesday. In comparison, 15 percent is about the average number of total voters in school elections, she said.

"I’m guessing we’ll have 65 to 75 percent turnout," Brooks said.

Advance voting ended at noon Monday. Sick or hospitalized voters may have someone pick up a ballot for them but all ballots must be turned in by the time polls close at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The four voting machines Brooks has been using for advance ballots have caused no problems. The other 16 machines are being delivered to the polls Monday morning.

Voters do not have vote for candidates from just one political party during the general election. They may split their votes and even write-in names. Below is the list of candidates.
