Soroptimists are planning Thanksgiving meal

The Soroptimist International of Winfield is preparing to cook eight 20-pound turkeys and 160 pounds of mashed potatoes for its 24th annual Thanksgiving community dinner.

They’ll serve around 160 plus helpers by the time the six gallons of gravy and more than 30 pies have disappeared.

The dinner is for anyone who find themselves alone for the holiday, Soroptimist Nancy Heinz said.

College kids, elderly whose families live too far away and single folks who don’t want to spend the day alone are welcome.

The dinner is free. Some anonymous donor usually provides the turkeys. A basket is always out on the table if anyone wants to donate. If you are unable to make it to the First United Methodist Church, you might even get a home delivery.?
