The cold air that’s suppose to move into the area Wednesday night and Thursday will find local governments, banks and post offices closed for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Some government employees will get?Friday off as well while others will have to roll out of bed at the usual time to get to work on time.
The city of Arkansas City will be closed Thursday only. City offices will be open Friday. The regular Thursday trash route will be picked up on either Wednesday or Friday. Click here for details.
Most Winfield employees will get both Thursday and? Friday off. The?Thursday residential trash pickup will be Friday. Recycling will be picked up Friday but the recycling center will be closed. The compost site will be closed Thursday.? Fall hours for the compost site mean a 5 p.m. closure instead of 6 p.m.
County offices, including? District Court, will be closed Thursday and Friday. The?county commission did not meet this week. The next meeting will be at 9 a.m. Nov. 27.
Post offices and banks will also be closed Thursday. There will be no regular mail delivery on Thanksgiving.
