Casino robbery suspect appears in OK court

A Kansas man accused of robbing and striking his victim with a handgun at a casino south of Arkansas City last June was back in Kay County District Court in Newkirk Friday.

The case against Terry Wayne Menefee, 27, was reset for Feb. 28, 2009, according to a court clerk. Menefee is free on bond.

The victim had been gambling at the casino and left with nearly $3,000. He got into his vehicle to take a nap but did not lock the doors. Menefee allegedly had a handgun and struck the man, investigators have said.

Menefee was caught on a video pulling the man out of his vehicle and taking the money. Another security camera captured the license plate on the car Menefee was allegedly driving and tracked him to Derby where he was later arrested.
