Preliminary autopsy findings indicate Jerry Joe Bailey – a 42-year-old Arkansas City man found dead in his backyard Sunday – died of a self-inflicted injury, according to police officials.
A cause of death is unofficial until a complete autopsy is conducted Tuesday. Ark City Police Chief Sean Wallace said that since the incident is thought to be a suicide, his department would offer no further comment other than to confirm the preliminary finding.
Two women walking in the 300 block of N. Eighth found Bailey’s body over the weekend.
