Police investigate weekend thefts, burglaries

Arkansas City police are investigating several burglaries and thefts that occurred over the weekend.

Officers were checking businesses early Saturday morning when two suspicious people were noticed walking in the 100 block of W. Spruce Avenue. The men identified themselves as Luther Turner, 24, and Seth Fultz, 19, both of Ark City, according to a police report.

Turner had a pry bar hidden in his pants. Car wash tokens and other property from Rakie’s Oil in the 300 block of N. Summit Street were found. The business had been burglarized, officers discovered.

Both men were taken into custody. Turner assured police that Fultz was not involved and had met up with him after he burglarized the company. Fultz was underage and was charged with minor in consumption. Turner was charged with Burglary. Bond was set at $6,000.

In a separate incident, a television set was stolen from the apartment of Bowie Call in the 100 block of N. Fourth Street Thursday. Police discovered pry marks on the back door where the thief entered. Nothing else was taken. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 442-7777 or 221-7777.

David Brake also reported Thursday that someone broke into his residence in the 1300 block of N. C Street, causing damage to his back door. Nothing was taken.

Walker Simmons reported last Wednesday that someone stole Citizen Band equipment from his 1995 Peterbilt semi in a parking lot in the 1200 block of S. Mill Road. The case is still under investigation.
