Wind chills could dip below zero Wed. tonight

Dig out the flannel pajamas if you haven’t already and an extra quilt for the bed. An artic cold front is suppose to bring a frigid air mass our way that will result in wind chill values from five below to 10 below zero over much of the area late tonight.

The change is expected to begin this afternoon and present a high fire danger across the entire area.

Wind chills will remain at five below to 10 below zero through mid-morning Thursday and drop just below zero again on Friday morning. A chance of light snow will linger over the next few days.

Low wind chills can result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia. Frostbite in medical terminology is the medical condition wherein localized damage is caused to skin and other tissues due to extreme cold.

If frostbite is not treated immediately, then the damage and the frostbite becomes permanent.
