Jump Start suspect back in court on Jan. 20

A Wichita man involved in a shooting at the Jump Start convenience store in October 2007 is scheduled to be back in Cowley County District Court in Winfield Jan. 20.

Robert L. White, 26 when first arrested, is charged with attempted second degree murder, or in the alternative aggravated battery, and criminal possession of firearms. His motions hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

Approximately two dozen shots were fired following a verbal altercation at the store. Aaron Brown, who was also 26 when arrested, was struck by one of the bullets. He was treated in the local emergency room and then released.

White has since been evaluated at Larned State Hospital. He is being held in the county jail in lieu of bond.

Attempted first degree murder is a severity level one person felony with a sentence tat ranges from 147 to 653 months in prison and a fine of up to $300,000.
