Jump Start suspect to go to trial on Aug. 31

A jury trial has been set for Aug. 31 for a Wichita man charged with attempted second degree murder, or in the alternative aggravated battery, in connection with a shooting at Jump Start convenience store in Winfield in October 2007.

Robert L. White, 27, is also charged with criminal possession of firearms. Another man was shot when approximately two dozen shots were fired following a verbal altercation at the store.

Aaron Brown, 26 at the time, was treated in the local emergency room and then released. White is being held in the county jail in lieu of bond.

Attempted first degree murder is a severity level one person felony with a sentence that ranges from 147 to 653 months in prison and a fine of up to $300,000.
