Dogs crossing road cause accident Tuesday

An Arkansas City woman suffered possible injuries Tuesday when her car was rear-ended after she slowed for dogs crossing K-360, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Melissa Sue Wright, 27, was taken to William Newton Hospital to be evaluated. The driver of the passenger truck which struck Wright’s 2001 Plymouth, Carol Ann Archer, 41, Winfield, and a passenger, Buck Archer, 18, also of Winfield, were not injured.

The accident occurred at 6 p.m. just east of Joel Mack Road on the bypass.

The Patrol also investigated a traffic accident Tuesday on 95th Street, about six miles southeast of Derby. Ladonna Althouse, 64, Douglass, was taken to Wesley Medical Center.

Althouse was headed west when the rear driver side wheel fell off the 2002 Pontiac Bonneville she was driving. She lost control of the car after the wheel fell off. It went into a ditch and overturned, according to the Patrol.
