Local attorney seriously hurt in wreck on Wed.

Winfield attorney Chris Rogers was seriously injured in a collision on U.S. 160 just east of Grenola Wednesday afternoon.

Around 5 p.m., Rogers, 65, was westbound on the highway when he attempted to pass another vehicle and collided with an oncoming truck in the eastbound lane, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The report indicates Rogers was not wearing a seat belt. He was taken to Via Christi-St. Francis hospital in Wichita where he was in serious but stable condition Thursday, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Rogers’ 1992 Lincoln passenger car struck a 1998 Dodge truck driven by Elmer G. Wolfe, 56, of Grenola. Wolfe was taken to Sedan City Hospital for treatment.

Rogers is a partner in the Winfield firm Rogers & Lanning and has practiced here for many years.
