Bill Kurtis’ son dies on family ranch in Sedan

Scott Kurtis ? the son of television personality Bill Kurtis ? died Monday in Sedan, according to his family.

Scott Kurtis suffered from schizophrenia and it is believed he died as a result of physical complications associated with the disease. He was 38.

An autopsy has been scheduled.

The younger Kurtis was raised in Chicago where his father was the longtime co-anchor of the WBBM-TV News before becoming well-known documentarian.

Scott attended Lincoln Park Elementary School and graduated from the Chicago Academy for the Arts.

For the past ten years Scott has lived and worked at Bill’s Red Buffalo Ranch in Sedan not far from where Bill Kurtis was born and raised.

A private memorial is planned for Wednesday.
