An 18-year-old Winfield man was found dead and others are facing drug charges as part of an investigation Sunday at a local residence.
Around 1:10 p.m., officers were dispatched to 924 Harris Rd. for was first reported as a disturbance involving a firearm. Police arrived to find a man suffering from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Derreck T. David received medical treatment at the scene but could not be revived and was pronounced dead. An autopsy has been ordered for the young man.
Upon first arriving, officers noticed several items of drug-related paraphernalia in the residence and obtained a search warrant. Officers located paraphernalia, a substance believed to be meth and an unlawful firearm. Charges are expected against tenants of the residence.
