Heavy downpours dropped over four inches of rain on parts of Cowley County Monday, according to emergency management officials.
Rainfall totals ? taken at a reporting area at Strother Field ? showed 4.3 inches of rain fell there from late Sunday night to early Tuesday morning. Dexter reported rainfall of 3.13 inches and there was 3.37 inches recorded at a reporting area just east of Winfield.
The Arkansas City area received close to three inches in some parts of the city.
Despite the heavy rains, emergency management officials do not expect flooding on either the Walnut or Arkansas rivers.
