Truck crashes into Winfield home late Monday

That bump in the night at Travis Rolo’s home Monday was a pickup truck jumping his pool and crashing into the backside of his house.

The driver of the Chevy truck was injured and transported to the hospital by ambulance. It was not immediately clear how serious the man’s injuries were and his name has not been released.

It was just before midnight when officers responded to the report of an injury accident at 204 Cedar Lane Dr. The home is familiar and visible to anyone who regularly travels on U.S. 77 highway in the south part of Winfield.

Few details of the incident were imediately available but it was clear the truck crashed through a fence at the back of the home and somehow cleared a small, in-ground swimming pool in the backyard. The truck ended up in a back patio area.

A cover on the pool remained unmolested after the accident and all indications were that the truck hopped over the pool before striking the patio.

A police officer at the scene said it appeared the man was traveling on U.S. 77 when he left the road, drove through a large grassy area between the highway and the home and then crashed through the fence.

It was not immediately known what caused the driver to leave the roadway.

County property records show the home belongs to Travis and Katherine Rolo.
