Local prison escapees apprehended in Miss.

Two inmates that escaped from the Winfield Correctional Facility in November were located and apprehended in Mississippi, corrections officials said.

Just before 6 p.m. Wednesday, police in Batesville, Miss informed the prison that Scott Dwyer had been taken into custody. Grenada, Miss. authorities are said to have apprehended Wayne Purdy without incident around 9 a.m. Thursday.

Both men had been on escape status since Nov. 26 when they were discovered missing during a daily count.

They will be returned to Kansas to face escape charges and will not be returning to a minimum custody anytime soon, local officials said in a written statement.
