Cities offering classes on ADA compliance

The cities of Arkansas City, Wellington, and Winfield are offering two days of workshops to educate building owners, design professionals, builders, contractors, and tradesmen on regulations regarding accessibility of buildings for people with disabilities.

The first workshop, ADA Title III Education Seminar, is set for 3 p.m., Oct. 2 at Mossman Hall room 101 on the campus of Southwestern College in Winfield. The event is free for participants.

The final workshop, ADA Education Seminar, is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 3 and is for design professionals, builders, tradesmen and contractors. It also will be held at Southwestern College.

Supported by Heart of America Chapter, ICC, participants will receive .4 ICC Continuing Education Units. A $20 registration fee includes presentation handouts.

Presenting will be representatives from the DBTAC-Great Plains ADA Center. The Center provides informational materials, technical assistance and training on the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
