Convicted felon nabbed in drug bust on Wed.

Cole Hartung ? a Winfield man convicted of firing a gun into a local home in 2006 ? is now facing drug charges following a drug bust late Wednesday.

Around 10 p.m., authorities served a search warrant at home at 914 E. Sixth. Hartung, who was paroled in February after more than three years in prison, was one of two men inside the home to be arrested.

Substances believed to be meth and cocaine were found in addition to items used to sell illegal narcotics. Hartung faces charges of possession of meth with intent to sell and possession of coke with intent to sell, no drug tax stamp and possession of drug sale paraphernalia.

Willie Smith, 35, Winfield, was also arrested and faces a charge of possession of paraphernalia. Smith is also a parolee.

Charges against a third, unidentified man, are also expected.

The sheriff’s department, county drug task force and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation were involved in the bust.

Hartung’s bail is set at $16,000 on the latest charges but he will be held without bond by the Kansas Dept. of Corrections because he is on parole.

Smith has bailed out.
