David Webster’s trial in the death of Winfield’s Diane Chambers has been pushed from this fall until early next year.
Webster was in a Winfield courtroom Friday morning for a hearing to consider moving his trial out of Cowley County. Action on that motion was delayed until at least Oct. 30, when a pre-trial conference is scheduled.
Webster’s trial was originally to begin in November but Cowley County Attorney Chris Smith said the judge granted a delay until at least January 2010.
Webster is accused of killing Chambers this spring, reporting her missing and then dumping her body in rural Cowley County.
Prosecutors have acknowledged discussing a plea agreement in the case but that status of the negotiations is not clear.
Webster faces a charge of first-degree murder.
