Junelle Hills will be quilt speaker for November

Junelle Hills will be the guest speaker at the November meetings of the Walnut Valley Quilters Guild.

Meetings are set for 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Nov. 9 at the First United Methodist Church, 2448 Edgemont, in Ark City. As always, visitors are welcome to attend the meeting.

Hills is the owner of the Interior Connection and Quilt Cabin ? curtain and quilting shops ? just north of the I-70 corridor in Colby. She was born in raised in western Kansas.

Hills has been sewing since the third grade and at one time operated a custom-tailoring business. She took her first quilting class in 1989 and continues to take classes and teach quilting.

At the 1 p.m. meeting, her program will be Nifty Notions. She will share the latest notions, and maybe some older ones that people have, but are not sure quite what to do with. She’ll provide a program with all the notions, listing color, size and price.

At the 6:30 p.m. meeting, Junelle’s program will be on Border Quilts. She will show participants how to make an entire quilt out of one border print. The members and visitors attending this meeting will cut, tape and create with paper to learn how to make the border quilt.
