2 inmates escape from Winfield prison Thurs.

Two inmates escaped from the Winfield Correctional Facility Thanksgiving Day, according to prison officials. They were discovered missing around 9 p.m.

The men have been identified as Scott Dwyer, 40, and Wayne Purdy, 31.

Both men were wearing blue on blue clothing and prison boots, and possibly red hoodies. This clothing description is in line with standard items issued to inmates.

Dwyer arrived at the Winfield facility just over a week ago. He has a history of convictions for burglary, theft, criminal damage to property and drug possession in Sedgwick, Sumner, Cowley, Wilson, Butler and Greenwood counties.

His earliest release date is February 12, 2012.

Purdy arrived in Winfield two days before Dwyer. His criminal history includes burglary, theft, arson and criminal damage to property in Sedgwick and Labette counties.

His earliest release date is May 9, 2018.

All local law enforcement agencies have been notified and are actively assisting in the search for these offenders, according to corrections officials.
